Testing balance changes

Pilots! The UMC launches a special test version of the game with balance tweaks proposed by the players. This version of the game will be available to everyone on a separate test server.

Public test server

Testing will be held on the Star Conflict public test server.

The public test server is a game space independent of the live server where updates are uploaded for mass testing.
Instructions on how to connect to the public test server can be found here.

Mass test schedule:
The public test server will run for a limited time. The server is intended only to test an update that is being prepared for release.

  • Friday: 18:00 MSK - 22:00 MSK.
  • Saturday: 18:00 MSK - 22:00 MSK.
  • Sunday: 18:00 MSK - 22:00 MSK.

Update Description:

Weapons

Turbophaser DN-1

  • Projectile speed increased from 4750 to 6000 m/sec.
  • Cooling time reduced from 3 seconds to 2 seconds.

Rationale: the weapon is much weaker than its closest counterpart — the assault railgun, having a fairly low projectile speed (railguns of appropriate ranks have from 6175 to 7101 m/s) and a long cooling time (railgun — 0.8 sec.)

Le Claire cannon

  • Range increased from 2000 to 3000 m.

Rationale: at the moment, the weapon has too short an optimal and maximum range of action, preventing it from being used even at a medium distance. This tweak will increase the effectiveness and popularity of the weapon, while not making it too strong, since it has a sufficiently large spread.

Focusing Laser

  • Crit size reduced from 100 to 75%.

Rationale: the weapon has an inflated critical damage bonus parameter so that it is much superior to the closest analogue — the ion emitter.

Special modules and implants

Phase shield

  • The acceleration bonus is reset if the frigate opens fire.

Rationale: Federation ships with this bonus can catch up with an interceptor accelerated to 500 m/s, which in no way can shoot back to interrupt the action, as a result of which there is a strange picture: a quick class, relying on its speed, can't escape from the slow and armoured class while receiving damage.

Quick swarm

  • Speed increase reduced from 30 to 22% in boost mode.

Rationale: at the moment, the Zeta surpasses Sirius in speed without significant losses in survivability, which, in conjunction with other rapid movement capabilities, gives an undue advantage over other destroyers. This correction is intended to equalize the Zeta velocity potential to the Sirius level corrected for the node “+7.5% to speed and turns”.

Accelerating Shield and Phase Demodulator — Endeavour

  • The number of targets in range is now displayed.

Rationale: Using the module in more efficient situations will become much easier, and the overall efficiency of these modules will increase without any increase in parameters (which are already good enough).

Implant 3-1

  • Shield restoration increased from 40% to 50%.

Rationale: this implant is eclipsed in almost all circumstances by 3-3. 3-2 is sometimes used, but in any case, it's worse than 3-3.

Implant 13-1

  • The speed of reloading of active modules of the ship increased to 7% when destroying/assisting the destruction of the enemy ship.

Rationale: when this implant was added, its strength was 20%, and it accelerated the reloading of missiles. Due to its great popularity, it was weakened in several approaches to 5%, which made it useless even in PvE. This change allows you to create alternative ship builds, not just choosing between damage immediately or gradually.

Active modules, ship modifiers and other changes

Target Painter

  • Increased target shield and hull resistance reduction

Rationale: will increase the efficiency of the module to an acceptable level, as well as its competitiveness against the rest of the barrier modules.

Mass Propulsion Inhibitor
Signature Masking

  • Restricted repeated aura activations (~15 seconds from the end of the aura effect).

Rationale: at the moment, several guard frigates in the portals can constantly keep opponents under these effects, killing them one by one. After the change, there will be a time interval between the actions of auras of different frigates on enemy ships. In this case, the edit will not affect solo guard frigates, which alone are not so strong.

Signal router

  • Speed increase reduced from 50% (Rank 17 modifier Mk.4) to 35%.

Rationale: when using this modifier, some tharga assemblies get inadequate manoeuvrability, and it becomes extremely difficult to hit them with most guns.

Engineering frigates of Federation

  • Base speed reduced.

Rationale: engineering frigates of the Federation can be accelerated to 500 m/s and higher, without loss of the capacitor. This speed is abnormal for the class of ships that are initially weak in it.

Sword

  • Added 5% bonus damage

“Apocalypse” missiles

  • Removed from “Portals” mode

Ranked bonuses for ships in Portals mode

  • Remove bonuses for ships in this mode.

Rationale: ships below rank 13 (ranks 10 - 12) have a strong advantage in this mode. Since any ship below rank 13 automatically becomes stronger than rank 15. In the original old school mode, there were never bonuses to ship ranks.

Bots in PvP

  • Ship bonuses reduced by 50%.

Rationale: Due to the excessive bonuses to durability and damage, bots in PvP do not leave a single chance for many light ships. The change is designed to slightly balance the bot ships relative to the player ships.
