Special issue of “The Frontier Voice” news publication - The report on Drag’Thir
Line system,
“Ellydium Theta” station
Greetings, dear viewers and listeners! Welcome to “The Frontier Voice”, this is Max “The Comet” speaking to you from the “Ellydium Theta” station. The topic of today’s issue is the Drag’Thir cover frigate recently developed by Ellydium. But first, I would like to apologize for the confusing situation with the last issue of our investigation. It turns out the pirates had set up another ambush. They jammed my communications channels, took out the ship’s antennas with a precision shot, and began shutting down the gate. I managed to get through, but it was at the moment of the jump that the gate was shut down. As a result, I was stranded in inter-system space, unable to communicate. I apologize for any possible inconvenience, but now let’s get back to the subject of this issue.
I managed to get a comment from the Ellydium engineers about the new ship, but they insisted that I don’t record the conversation. Now, the cover frigate Drag’Thir is a new Ellydium project. According to our sources, unlike past Ellydium ships, Drag’Thir utilizes fully functioning crystallid nodes. Normally, Ellydium limits these nodes from utilizing most of their capabilities for security purposes. New research into the behavior of crystallids in the Solaris system has allowed the corporation’s engineers to create mechanisms that allow for the safe operation of the nodes’ full functionality. Moreover, the ship is more secure in terms of crystallid node behavior than past models.
Like all Ellydium creations, it has a set of weapons, active and special modules, and a combination of interchangeable nodes. Engineers emphasized the development of the various fields surrounding the ship. The modules are interesting: the ship can create barriers that lock down enemies, mask allies with a beam and even... distort the flow of time around the ship. Moreover, the advanced friend-or-foe identification system allows allies to pass through the locking field and not be affected by the time distortion. No information has been revealed about the ships’ weapons yet, but I was shown the design of one of them. It was probably a launcher for some kind of missiles. For more details, we should wait for the official announcement from Ellydium...
“This is Ellydium Theta station Security Chief Natasha Cortés speaking. You’re being held on suspicion of espionage until the circumstances are clarified. Goddamn it, who let a suspicious journalist slip through the cracks again? And yes, shut down his comms before he divulges all the corporation’s secrets!”
