First men on the Moon
July 20th, 1969
Neil Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin moved into the lunar module, activated and checked all its systems and unfolded landing supports into position.
Undocking of the command and service module and the lunar module is greenlit. ‘Columbia’ and ‘Eagle’ undock.
Collins reports that landing supports unfolded normally.
Armstrong reported: ‘The Eagle has wings.’
Altitude 460 meters. Autopilot leads the ship along the close edge of a large crater, surrounded by a field of boulders up to 2-3 meters in diameter. Landing ‘Eagle’ in a fairly safe location, without reaching the crater, will not be possible.
Altitude 140 meters. Commander enables semi-automatic control mode.
Altitude 12 meters. Aldrin reports rising moondust. Visibility is getting worse.
Aldrin shouts: ‘Contact light!’ Time 20:17:39 UTC July 20 (102 hours and 45 minutes flight time).
Armstrong shuts off the engine.
Armstrong — Earth: ‘Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.’
Sincerely,
Star Conflict Team
